Bilingual Baby

Our new day care lady, Irene, is teaching Avery Spanish. I thought it would take her a little while to learn, especially since she's only said "mama," "dada," and "hi" so far. But the other night when we were giving her a bath, Avery pointed at the flowing water and very distinctly declared, "agua!"

I thought it might be a coincidence, but today I asked Irene about it. Indeed, she's been working on "agua" and "leche" (milk). I'm totally impressed by my little chica. Ella esta muy intelegente!

Party Girl

Avery had a great time at her friend Noah's 3rd birthday party this past weekend, and even made a new friend.

I love this shot. We've all just gotten up from our Sunday afternoon nap and Avery is still all sleepy and cozy and warm.

Avery's been enjoying her time visiting with Grandma Lynn. Last weekend, we enjoyed a trip to the zoo together. So fun!

The Most Beautiful Sound In The World

Last night, when our house was very dark and still, I sensed Avery start to stir in her nursery. Then came her cry, clear and loud from the other end of the hall: "Mama!" And those two tiny syllables were the most heartbreakingly beautiful sound I'd ever heard.

Reason to Celebrate

We went to Coronado today to celebrate Grandma Debby's birthday. We were so happy to have Uncle David and Aunt Alison in town, and it was the first time they got to meet their neice. And, Aunt Alison's birthday was this weekend as well. That gave us a lot to celebrate, and a lot to be grateful for.
